Director of Iran's Union of Textile and Clothing Producers and Exporters, Mehdi Yekta recently stated that, during the initial nine months of present Iranian fiscal year which commenced on March 21, 2010, the country exported various textile goods worth $420 million.
These textile exports included yarn and fabric exports worth $151 million, clothing worth $71 million and carpet and other floor coverings worth $154 million.
The official further revealed that, the Central Asia, Iran, Afghanistan and some of the East Asian countries are the key markets to be focused on for exports of the Iranian textile items.
Also, the Deputy Energy Minister Esmaeil Mahsouli, in November last year declared that, Tehran has decided to further reduce its reliance on earnings from oil exports and to emphasize more on the non-oil exports from the country.
