Boom in China's imports of textile machinery

According to customs statistics, from January to November 2010, China imported textile machinery from 58 countries and regions; imports amounted to US $3.810 billion, registering an increase of 65.69 percent year on year.

Looking at product categories, knitting machinery ranked at the first place among imported textile machinery, import value totaled to $936 million, recording an increase of 21.10 percent year on year. Import amount of knitting machinery accounted for 24.56 percent of the total imports, the proportion fell 9.04 percentage points year on year.

From January to November 2010, the major countries and regions of China's textile machinery imports were Japan, Germany, Italy, Belgium and Taiwan. China's imports from the top five countries and regions amounted to $3.202 billion, witnessing an increase of 67.39 percent year on year and accounting for 84.04 percent of total imports.

China's imports of textile machinery from Japan ranked the first and stood at $1.239 billion, registering an increase of 91.55 percent year on year. Mainly looms were imported, trade value of which stood at $320 million, recording a sharp increase of 213.42 percent year on year.
