Punjab Khadi Board provides subsidy worth Rs 34.7mn

Punjab Khadi and Village Industries Board (PKVIB) recently revealed that it has issued a subsidy of Rs 34.7 million till now in the current fiscal year for establishing 169 units in the state of Punjab.

According to the PKVIB Chairman, Vijay Sampla, a subsidy of Rs 33.7 million had been issued to 156 units in the fiscal year 2008-09, whereas the amount increased up to Rs 62.1 million in 2009-10, which had been disbursed to 268 units.

PKVIB was set up in 1957 under the Punjab Khadi and Village Industries Board Act of 1956 and it extends financial support to the rural masses to establish village industries and to generate employment opportunities for unemployed rural people in the state, said the Chairman.
