Premium properties of Lenzing Modal ensure success

Whether it be Armani, Cavalli or Versace – Lenzing Modal is in all the latest collections. It would seem that no one wants to do without the fiber's unmistakable softness. Brand manufacturers are deliberately backing quality and this can only be assured with a fiber from Lenzing. The highest quality in the end product can only be guaranteed by the original Modal fiber from Lenzing. Lenzing Modal can be identified in articles of clothing. The identification system is based on chemical and physical parameters within the fiber which can be proven under a microscope.

Lenzing Modal is also available as a micro fiber. MicroModal is the ultimate perfection in terms of its fineness and softness. Textiles made from this ultra-fine cellulose fiber are particularly light and regular in their structure. The ultra-thin fabrics hug the skin in a natural and soft manner. Another important innovation is Lenzing Modal SUN – the fiber with an integrated sunblocker. The integrated sun protection is a UV blocker in pigment form which is directly incorporated in the fiber. As a special alternative for everything that is bright in color, Lenzing AG offers the high-quality fiber Lenzing Modal COLOR. With this fiber, outstanding service values and color fastnesses can be obtained in an eco-friendly way.

The term Modal stands for an independent fiber type defined by BISFA (The International Bureau For The Standardization Of Man-Made Fibers) and ISO 2076. The definition contains minimum values with regard to the wet modulus and fiber breaking resistance in a conditioned state. Lenzing Modal fulfils these parameters. Other fibers which also call themselves Modal do not attain these values and are, per definition, therefore not Modal fibers.

Lenzing Modal is a trade mark protected around the globe and textiles of Lenzing Modal are regularly inspected for their quality and the origin of the fibers. After all, only Lenzing Modal offers safety in the textile production process due to its superior fiber data. In the end product itself, the combination of an outstanding tensile strength profile and high wet modulus translate into optimum care properties.

The natural raw material makes Lenzing Modal unique
One of the secrets of the success of Lenzing Modal is the raw material beech wood. The cellulose used at Lenzing for the production of Modal is extracted from indigenous beech trees and processed at Lenzing. This is something quite unique in this branch of industry. Since Lenzing produces the pulp it uses itself, it is able to control the entire production process – from the wood right through to the fiber. It has been proven that the raw material has an influence on the quality of Lenzing Modal and on many of the fiber's characteristic properties. The fact that beech wood is used as the raw material for Lenzing Modal makes this fiber so unmistakable.

The most outstanding property of Lenzing Modal has to be its superior softness. The fiber remains wonderfully soft even after repeated washing without losing its brilliant colors or sheen. In addition it also makes other fibers softer. And Lenzing Modal is an ideal blending partner for lots of different fibers since, like no other cellulose fiber, it blends harmoniously with many different fibers. Processing is simple and uncomplicated. But Lenzing Modal really comes into its own in blends with cotton. It stands to reason since the properties of both fibers are very similar to each other. In particular the dyeing behavior of Lenzing Modal allows for tone-in-tone dyeing in blends with cotton. Lenzing Modal and cotton are quite simply made for each other.
