Impacted by the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL)'s new gas load shedding schedule of 3.5 days per week, production units in the textile industry have started suspending their operations one by one.
Being hit by the new load shedding schedule, more than 200 textile units in Punjab are facing severe gas crisis which has thumped their production, and is likely to cause massive loss to country's exports.
In the meantime, there are even reports that the gas supply to nearly 450 industrial units in Faisalabad has also been suspended for three days from April 6 onwards. The mounting gas deficit coupled with some unpleasant incidents has caused the textile industry, particularly in Punjab, to come to a standstill.
However, it is to be noted that, the Central APTMA is in constant touch with the Presidency in Islamabad and is trying to get the gas supply resumed for the textile factories.
