Mitsubishi Chemical Corp announced that its plans to restart the number–2 naphtha cracker at the Kashima plant around May 20.
The cracker has a capacity to produce 453,000 tons of ethylene per year. The plant was shut down following a massive earthquake which shook Japan on March 11.
Mitsubishi also announced that it would also restart the number-1 cracker on June 27, which has been shut down for a planned maintenance.
The number-1 cracker has a name plate capacity to produce 375,000 tons of ethylene per annum.
