"Provided for factors like weather and other fundamentals of the cotton crop remain favourable, the Pakistani farmers can be optimistic about harvesting a bumper crop in the upcoming 2011-12 season”, said Mr Masood Majeed, Chairman - Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA).
Pakistan is expecting a bumper cotton crop of around 15 million bales in the 21011-12 season. “Sowing would commence from mid-April and will be completed by mid-May”, he said while speaking to fibre2fashion.
“Because of improved crop-economy the sentiments in the sector are positive of achieving much better yield than in the 2010-11 season, as this year, around 15 million bales seed has been sown on the back of increased acreages and flood affected area getting ready for crop farming”, he added by saying.
“Good profits due to high selling prices are motivating farmers to prefer growing cotton over other crops", he concluded by saying.
