In the first three months of the current year, cotton production in Uzbekistan fell 2.7 percent to 390,018 tons, compared to the same period in 2010.
In the same period, cotton yarn output too fell by 20.8 percent to 36,370 tons and cotton fabric production dropped 11.5 percent to 19.537 million square meters.
In 2010, cotton production increased by 7.5 percent last year to 1.125 million tons compared to 2009, with cotton yarn production jumping by 19.6 percent to 185,752 tons.
However, cotton fabric output declined by 0.7 percent to 83.597 million square meters.
Uzbekistan ranks sixth globally in cotton production and third in exports of the white gold.
