While speaking at a meeting of industrial and trade associations held at Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Federal Minister for Textile Industry said that, textile sector is the spine of the economy and the government just cannot overlook it.
Shahabuddin said that, the issue regarding Sui Gas distribution would be extensively taken care to prevent any problematic situation. However, he did said that, the issues would be settled peacefully and to complete satisfaction.
He added that, a meeting of all textile industry representatives would be held in Islamabad for the purpose, and representatives of even the Ministry of Petroleum and Sui Gas along with other concerned authorities would be called upon to attend this meeting.
Zafar Iqbal Sarwar, Chairman and Executive Member of FCCI Export Committee updated the Minister regarding the grave difficulties that the textile industry is facing. He stated that, Pakistan is losing millions of dollars in foreign exchange earnings, due to soaring production cost and gas and electricity charges, and proposed that textile industry should be kept out of power and gas load-shedding.
