Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Felix Mutati said that, the government would take all possible measures to ensure that none of the existing textile firms run out of business.
He said that, the textile firms, not only in Zambia but all across Africa, have been confronting several challenges since 2003.
He held, lifting of ban on imports of foreign textiles into the country, as a reason responsible for collapse of the textile firms.
However, the Government he said has introduced a statutory instrument which would require the Government to procure textiles from domestic textile firms, in order to see to it that. employment is not affected and domestic firms can move ahead with capacity expansion.
Further, he even called upon all the firms to take maximum advantage of AGOA, which permits duty free access to markets of US.
