2010 proved to be a very good year for Bekaert Textiles, the world market leader in mattress cover fabrics. A high-tech innovation centre, where from now on new technologies will be developed, will be incorporated into the Belgian headquarters. The production capacity of the Turkish and Czech establishments increased. Expansion was also needed for certain overseas facilities. The Argentinian establishment, for instance, moved to a site three times the size of its previous location.

This and other changes now allow the company to employ 1100 people worldwide. Its sales increase from 130 to 160 million euros has once more reinforced the company's position on the European market and far beyond. Bekaert Textiles currently takes part in internationally renowned trade fairs to make its aspirations known to the world: to equip beds and mattresses worldwide equipped with innovative mattress ticking for optimal sleeping comfort. The company focuses on the future and continues its investment in Sleep Science and such projects as Bekaert Earth, focussing on the use of innovative and eco-friendly materials.

Interzum Guangzhou from March 27th to 30th
For over ten years, Bekaert Textiles has regularly attended the yearly Interzum fair in the Chinese city of Guangzhou, formerly known as the China International Furniture Fair. The company has been present on the Chinese market for 15 years now. This trade fair offers an ideal platform to approach both the Asian and Australian bedding industry. The show stand was given a complete makeover this year, which did not go unnoticed: the colourful Rayoz fabrics and the super 3D Elastesse stretch received critical acclaim from the local press.

Evteks Istanbul from May 18th to 22nd
Bekaert Textiles would not dream of missing the 17th edition of the Turkish Evteks fair. Ever since the company established its own production site in this country, the interest in the Turkish market has only increased. Its eye-catching stand, featuring the innovations Vitalize, Bekaert Earth, Viloft, Kinetic and Brioso, will certainly appeal to the Turkish public.

Interzum Cologne from May 25th to 28th
At the world-famous Interzum fair in Cologne, Bekaert Textiles emerges visitors into the world of Sleep Science. The market leading company is more aware than anyone that sleep will ultimately lead to genuine sleeponomics. This new industry will market products that optimise the quality of sleep and thus of life itself. Therefore, research into the possible optimisation of sleep plays a key part.

This is one of the reasons why Bekaert Textiles has created its own Sleep Academy, a competence centre for scientific sleep research in cooperation with universities and various technology partners. All results are processed by the R&D department in order to develop new innovative materials. A good night's rest makes you fitter, allows you to work better, think faster and boosts your immune system, your memory and not in the least your good mood. That is why sleep provides so much more than a sensation of well-being – together with a healthy diet and lots of exercise, it guarantees the necessary recovery for both mind and body, which in turn is beneficial to the entire economy.
