A Malaysian venture fund economics group called 'Tabung Ekonomi Kumpulan Usaha Niaga' or 'TEKUN Nasional' will be setting up its first embroidery training centre in the Kimanis parliamentary constituency.
Foreign Minister Datuk Anifah Aman, who represents the constituency, inaugurated the first such training centre in the country. Another similar training centre is expected to be set up in Sepanggar shortly.
The training centre was opened by the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industries' under its people's income improvement programme, in association with the Kimanis Umno division, Mostwell Sdn Bhd, and Apple Handicraft Centre.
The objective of the training centre is to empower housewives, single mothers and people belonging to low-income groups by enabling them to become successful entrepreneurs once they complete embroidery training.
The new training centre will cater to not only people from the Kimanis constituency but also to people from the adjoining areas.
