Review of Federal Budget's impact on cotton industry

Cotton Australia was disappointed however to see an 8% reduction ($33 million over four years) to Cooperative Research Centres across Australia and hopes this doesn't affect the rebid for our Cotton CRC.
One of the few areas to receive substantial new funding was mental health, a particularly critical issue for the cotton industry following the stress and hardship of almost a decade of drought. A $1.5 billion package of new initiatives was announced including a new national Health Commission. Cotton Australia will continue to lobby the Federal government to ensure benefits from these new initiatives flows to regional cotton communities.
