INVISTA Camden celebrates Technical Lab expansion

INVISTA is celebrating the completion of its technical lab expansion in Camden, S.C., after six months of successful operation. The company invested more than $5 million in research and development at the site, which is a nylon fiber manufacturing facility.
“We are very pleased with the investment that was made at Camden and the confidence it demonstrates in our site and its employees,” said Paul Liddle, site manager of the Camden site. “This investment is designed to further support the Surfaces business segment by enhancing new products and applications with added capability, style, and performance; providing environmental benefits through innovative manufacturing processes; and reducing innovation cycle-time.”
The completion of the project was celebrated on May 26th with a program at the Camden Country Club to recognize the extended project, maintenance, and operations teams.
“The project teams have successfully completed the design, commissioning, startup and initial operation of the lab on time, under budget, and with zero injuries and zero violations of environmental and safety compliance standards,” said Liddle. “I commend them for their great work.”
The expansion also added 10 new research roles located at the Camden, S.C. site.
New products and applications will include the newest generation of STAINMASTER carpet yarns with improved softness, durability and appearance retention for residential soft flooring. Specialty yarns for area rugs, bath rugs, and automotive carpeting will also benefit from this investment.
“INVISTA's Performance Surfaces & Materials business will continue to invest in driving differentiation and innovation across all global PS&M sites through its brands and products, including STAINMASTER carpet and ANTRON carpet fibers,” said David Duncan, president, INVISTA Performance Surfaces & Materials. “This expansion will help us to do that, which reinforces our commitment to our customers.”
