Sourcing at Magic to focus on fashion tech and innovation

From August 11-14, 2019, ‘Sourcing at Magic’ – a must-see destination providing inspiration in trends, colour fashion tech and innovation, will be taking place at Las Vegas Convention Center, US. The show will feature top machinery, software, apparel and footwear manufacturers, fabric and textile mills, service providers from 35 countries around the world.

With three unique micro factories visitors will find the cutting edge in apparel design and manufacturing technology from 3D body scanning, digital fashion/textile design software and direct to fabric printing, automatic sewing along with automatic fabric cutting.

The Sustainability Gallery of ‘Sourcing at Magic’ will showcase new and emerging technology and service providers with a spotlight on technologies, companies, and organisations that are driving fashion forward towards a more sustainable future.

Digital apparel micro factories can now create apparel on-demand in extremely short periods of time, giving designers and producers powerful ‘concept-to-creation’ capabilities. In five steps from design to product – CAD/Design to printing to cutting to sewing, on-demand apparel can be created.

A few seminars will focus on the topic: ‘Innovation taking the supply chain in new directions’ on August 12. The panel will share new strategies being developed by their brands/retailers to optimise future success. Moderated by Edward Hertzman from sourcingjournal.com, the seminar will have speakers Barry McGeough, former founder of innovation next at PVH / head of Next Now; Kate Rowan, director of global merchandising, womens, Club Monaco; Aadi Vaidya, chief operating officer, Zilingo.

From brick & mortar to e-commerce and beyond, retail is adapting to the new consumer buying habits and technology available to expand sales both domestically and globally. Both brands and retailers must adapt to survive and thrive. Moderated by Hertzman, the seminar ‘The new fashion retailer’ will have speakers Michael Rouse|chief commercial officer international, Klarna; Dave Goulden |chief product officer|One Market Network, exec from Truefit, and an expert from First Insight.

An all new interactive lab and event for footwear sourcing show will showcase latest in materials, manufacturing and content for the footwear companies.

WGSN is now the official trend partner for Sourcing at Magic and will be showcasing an all-new WGSN trend pop up installation on August 11. WGSN is highly regarded as the leader in trend forecasting and access to their latest trend predictions (A/W 21’/21’) is complimentary with registration to Sourcing at Magic. WGSN’s seminar on ‘Future Consumer: 2021’ on August 12 will focus how people’s behavior evolve  and what will they expect from brands with respect to innovative paths-to-purchase & re-commerce to strategic corporate care, by speaker Amiyra Perkins, mindset consultant director, WGSN.

The Pantone Color display / lounge will display latest colour trends from Pantone. A focused seminar on the topic ‘Nest: Color as oasis for autumn winter 20/21’ will be led by Laurie Pressman, VP, Pantone Color Institute on August 12.

Denim District will be a dedicated area for all of denim sourcing needs. There will be over 40 factories represented in The Denim District, from countries such as Japan, Italy, Hong Kong, China, Vietnam and US. The area will include a Denim Trend Display curated by Aztex. (PC)
