A textile university will be set up by the Indian Institute of Carpet Technology (IICT) at Piparish in Bhadohi. Although research, design creation and development work is already being undertaken at the institute, the upcoming textile university will specialise in research and manufacture of various types of apparels using advanced technologies.

Media reports quoted Member of Parliament Virendra Singh Mast informing about the setting up of the university on the sidelines of the 32nd India Carpet Expo in Varanasi.

309 stalls in total have been put up by carpet and floor covering manufacturers from Bhadohi, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Jaipur, Agra, Panipat and Kashmir at the expo. These exhibitors are displaying modern, contemporary and classical products at the show. (AR)
