“Consumers told us entering the season that they intended to stay engaged with lawn and garden and, so far, that is exactly what they are doing. Retailer support for the category remains strong as we enter a period of challenging year-over-year comparisons,” Hagedorn added.

Gross profit during Q2 FY21 grew to $657.5 million ($550.2 million), while income from operations rose to $424.1 million ($353.7 million).

US Consumer segment’s sales grew 23 per cent to $1.37 billion ($.11 billion). Hawthorne sales were up 66 per cent to $363.8 million ($219.5 million).

“We also continue to exceed expectations at Hawthorne as we reported our fifth consecutive quarter of sales growth in excess of 60 per cent and another month of strong results in April. Given the current momentum of this business, we feel comfortable once again increasing our sales guidance for Hawthorne to a range of 30 to 40 per cent growth on a fiscal year basis,” Hagedorn concluded in the release.
