TTNA event looks to future applications for 3D textiles

The 2012 Annual Technical Textile & Nonwoven Association (TTNA) conference features a stellar line-up of presentations across an array of themes pertinent to the future of the technical textiles and nonwovens industries in Australia.

Travelling all the way from Germany, Christoph Bach, Head of Production Systems for Lifescience & Smart Textiles at RWTH Aachen University will speak on future applications for 3D textiles including the integration of smart systems. Christoph's colleague, Dr. Dieter Veit will outline Aachen University's approach to investment in education on advanced textile structures used for the production composites covering material characteristics, latest automated textile pro-cessing and the textile preforming approach, composite processing, design and testing procedures.

This conference will focus on new technologies and innovations that will generate product and market opportunities for the technical and nonwoven textiles industry into the future. It will feature papers on future trends in natural and man-made fibres and textiles; research, development and innovation and end-use applications.

Recognising the acute opportunities for textiles incorporating carbon fibre, Dr Bronwyn Fox, Associate Professor with the Centre for Material and Fibre Innovation at Deakin University will speak on the next generation of performance carbon fibres. Michael Gerakios, Business Technology Development Director of Metis Technologies, will talk on the customer drivers that determine the value of technology.

The TTNA's tenth Annual Conference is only six weeks away. Earlybird rates are available and offer a substantial saving.

The conference will be held on Wednesday 18th April at The Melbourne Zoo located in Elliott Avenue, Parkville commencing at 8.30am and concluding at 5.30pm. At 5.45pm there will be canapés at the tiger enclosure and the conference dinner will begin at 6.30pm.
