Uniform and Textile Service Association Public Relations (PR) program surpassed its goals in 2005 and is well on its way to another record year in 2006.
UTSA launched the program in mid-2002. It aims to build basic awareness and a favorable impression of the textile service industry among various publics and decision makers and to educate target audiences on the benefits of working with UTSA member companies.
The 2005 goal for the program was 12 placements reaching a readership of 1 million. The results far exceeded expectations, with 17 placements reaching a combined readership of 1.9 million for the year.
Over the course of the program 45 bylined or feature articles have appeared in a variety of business publication across the country, with a combined readership of nearly 5 million.
In addition to the readership reached through the bylined articles, the program has also generated interview requests from various publications that promoted UTSA and the industry in articles that reached several hundred thousand additional readers.
In 2006 the program will develop additional messages, including our industry's great environmental record as indicated by LaundryESP.
The first of a series of bylined articles touting our environmental friendly nature is due to appear in the April issue of Executive Housekeeping, a major magazine for cleaning and maintenance professionals in healthcare, hospitality, educational, and other large facilities.
Favorable positioning such as this can both fuel potential business for our industry and deflect regulatory attention.
UTSA is an international trade organization representing textile supply and service companies. UTSA members have recently begun an aggressive, industry-wide pollution prevention and resource conservation program, called the Laundry Environmental Stewardship Program.
