Expecting a huge growth for wool and woolens, WWEPC (Wool & Woollens Export Promotion Council, working under the Ministry of Textiles) has set the export target of $500 million in this fiscal.
Seeing potential of Indian woolen products in overseas market, the council has increased its target by $50 million, said Ashok Jaidka, Chairman of the council.
The council will not only focus on existing export markets but also explore new overseas markets to strengthen Indian wool products export.
These new markets would include South Africa, Moscow, Uzbekistan, Middle East and Latin America, where council would like to export Acrylic knitwear, shawls, stoles and other wool and wool blended products, Jaidka said.
