Kenya has demanded that China should withdraw its objection for the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).

Minister of Trade and Industry, Kenya, Kituyi, said China had threatened to block the trade arrangement through the World Trade Organisation citing the trade arrangement sponsored by the US was not compatible with WTO rules.

Kituyi in his talk with Chinese Commerce Minister, Bo Xilai, said that Africa wanted China to retract its objection.

Exports of textile and apparel from Africa dominate trade under the AGOA arrangements.

Kituyi also urged Chinese investors to help stimulate country's textile and garment sector.
