DCCI conducts seminar to explore business between UAE & SA

Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently held a seminar promoting bilateral trade between United Arab Emirates (UAE) and South Africa's Kwa Zulu Natal Province.

Eminent business personalities, officials, investors and businessmen from both the countries, attended the seminar.

Emphasis were laid on strengthening trade amongst the two countries and to step up non-oil business that reached AED 1.7 billion during 2004, showing a healthy 54 percent growth.

Significantly, during the last five years, a voluminous 450 percent rise in exports has been achieved.

Speakers at the seminar stressed on the opportunities for promoting joint vewntures and explore new markets by investing in South Africa.

During April 2005, DCCI conducted a UAE Trade Exhibition in Ghana and Senegal that met with success and more such meets would be held in future, according to sources.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that exports from South Africa to the UAE reached US $488 million, while former's imports stood at $401 million in 2005.

During the seminar, joint venture opportunities in textiles, clothings, footwear, information and communication technology, renewable energy, tourism, automotives, agriculture and equine industry, developing ports, airport and its related free zone were also discussed.

Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been the backbone of the commercial and economic activities of the Emirates, and a source of development and progress.
