Silk traders of Tamil Nadu (TN) should vie with their competitors in other states in exporting more products, said E.V.K.S. Elangovan, Union Minister of State for Textiles.
Addressing a function organized by Silk Export Promotion Council in New Delhi, he lamented that from the 60 Indian exporters, only one from Chennai was given prize for export performance.
He emphasized that Central Silk Board (CSB) and his ministry should work in close association for better co-ordination.
The function was held to mark the conclusion of Silk Mark Festival organised by the Silk Mark Organisation of India (SMOI), which works under the aegis of CSB.
