The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published a proposal in the Federal Register (FR) on November 13 2006 to amend the flammability standards for carpets and rugs by removing the reference to the obsolete Eli Lilly Company Product No. 1588 in Catalog No. 79, December 1 1969 as the standard ignition source, and providing a technical specification which defines the ignition source.
CPSC recommended an immediate effective date. Interested parties may submit written comments on the proposed effective date and factual information relating to the issue to CPSC by January 29 2007.
