Faced with turbulent markets, global low-cost competition, and increasing customer demands, many firms are in the process of reconfiguring their supply chains, in order to reduce costs, improve quality, provide more customized product & service offerings, and faster response to customer needs.

We at Delhi Management Association in association with J K Business School are organizing a one day Global Summit on Latest Trends in Supply Chain & Logistics Management on August 1, 2007 at New Delhi.

During the last two decades, many within-firm improvement strategies have been attempted: materials requirements planning (MRP), manufacturing resource planning (MRP II), business process reengineering (BPR), enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, total quality management (TQM), Six-Sigma, lean operations, etc.

The emphasis is now shifting to supply chain efforts i.e, inter-firm improvement strategies, to ensure a coordinated response from the entire supply chain.

Supply chain strategies seek to minimize uncertainties, disconnects, inventories, delays, resource wastage and poor service all along the supply chain, so that end-customers can be served better, by providing high-quality, low-cost, customized products and services.

The supply chain movement is also aimed at ensuring lower costs and equitable sharing of benefits among firms in a supply chain.

Competing effectively in the new market place requires an up-to-date knowledge of best practices in supply chain integration in a variety of areas: collaborative design of products & services, design for logistics, inter-organizational demand forecasting, coordinated inventory management, new ways of partnering with key suppliers and distributors, and strategic sourcing.

The arrival of Internet-based information technologies has also created unprecedented opportunities to improve inter-firm communication and coordination, and this seminar will also cover application of information systems for supply chain integration.

We take great pleasure in extending our invitation to you to become part of this Summit by sponsoring the event and sending participants from your organization.
