Textile technology provides many unique solutions for requirements on fibrous material configuration and construction and therefore properties, and its capability for creating various 3D textile architectures have caused tremendous interests for advanced technical applications in for example the aerospace and automotive industries.
The 3D textiles offer flexibility in fibre configuration, fibre continuity throughout the 3D fabric assembly, structural integrity, shaping capability, extra lightweight and high performance, and many more.
In order to promote the exchange in the development of 3D fabrics technology and to bridge the understanding between end users and textile engineers on 3D textiles, the First World Conference on 3D Fabrics and Their Applications is to be held between 3 and 4 April 2008 at Manchester, UK, by TexEng Software Ltd in association with the University of Manchester.
The themes will cover the progress in technologies for all types of 3D fabrics including weaving, knitting, braiding and nonwoven, as well as the modelling and properties, economics, and applications. Keynote speeches will be invited from leading companies who are end users of 3D textiles, and leading companies and research institutions who provide the latest 3D textiles technology.
