Carpet Export Promotion Council is an apex body of the exporters of Handmade Carpets and other floor coverings in India is organizing the biggest mega show known as India Carpet Expo which shall be held in the lawns of Hotel Taj Ganges, Varanasi from 17th to 19th October, 2007.
This show is annually organized by the Council under the aegis of Govt of India and efforts are made to organize the same on International standards providing the exporters and importers a platform to interact their business negotiations.
The show which is 3rd in the series at Varanasi is growing both in term of space, participants as well as visitors from abroad.
In the scheduled fair, which is expected to be inaugurated by the Hon'ble Minister of Textiles, shall be having record number of exhibitors over 200 from all over India in comparison with 149 in 2006.
The Council has kept the participation charges at bare minimum to make it affordable for the small manufacturers and exporters to participate.
The Council has also kept special rate for exhibitors participating from outside Bhadohi, Mirzapur, Varanasi belt such as Agra, Panipat, Jaipur, Delhi and J&K to make their participation affordable and to make this show as a national carpet show.
The outside exhibitors are also provided freight subsidy so that exhibitors from other part of India can conveniently bring their merchandise.
State of J&K which is a traditional handicraft state is famous for exquisite high quality hand-knotted Silk, Woollen and Artificial Silk (Staple) Carpets which are symbolic of quality and finesse.
These carpets have a typically local character imbued in every knot which transform mere material into magnificent creations of silk and wool, with colours and designs that are second to none.
Pure Silk Carpets from Kashmir are matchless in design, craftsmanship and feel. The carpets made in Kashmir have their own identity and image.
The CEPC which is dedicated body of exporters is keen to pay special attention to the problems of exporters and manufacturers in making these priceless carpets.
The Council has specifically convened meetings in Srinagar to interact with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the entrepreneurs to get a feedback about their requirement.
The Council will take all possible steps to remove the problems faced at production or marketing level. The Council has also been approached to open an office at Srinagar and this meeting is also dedicated to find out a solution to meet out the requirement of the exporters.
