Review of price indices; woolen/cloths prices up in CPI

The inflation rates based on CPI, SPI and WPI for the period of three years and three months with respect to the corresponding period/month.
July-November over corresponding period of last year: The inflation rates based on CPI, SPI and WPI for the year 2007-08 increased by 7.85%, 10.87% and 9.88% respectively over the corresponding period of 2006-07. It increased by 8.29%, 11.25% and 7.75% respectively, in 2006-07 over the corresponding period of 2005-06.
In 2005-06, the rate of inflation increased by 8.41%, 6.78% and 11.00 % respectively over the same period of 2004-05. An analysis of data for last three years for the same period indicates that CPI was lower as compared to last two years but SPI was higher as compared to 2005-2006 while lower as compared to 2006-07. Whereas, WPI in 2007-08 was higher as compared to 2006-07 but WPI was lower as compared to 2005-06.
November over corresponding month of previous year: The inflation rates based on CPI, SPI & WPI in November, 2007 increased by 8.67%, 11.01% and 12.64% over November, 2006 respectively. CPI, SPI and WPI in November 2006 increased by 8.07%, 13.38% and 7.46% respectively over November, 2005 and in November, 2005 the CPI, SPI and WPI increased by 7.89%, 5.37% and 10.91% respectively over November, 2004.
An analysis of data for three years for the same period indicates that CPI, SPI & WPI in 2007-08were higher as compared to last two years, whereas SPI was higher as compared to November, 2005 but lower as compared to November, 2006.
