Retail trade turnover fall in May

In comparison with April, total retail trade turnover in May 2008 has decreased by 2.4%1, according to the data of Central Statistical Bureau.

Retail trade turnover of non-food products were sold 3.8% less than in the previous month. Decrease was observed in almost all economic activities of this group.

Compared to May of previous year, the turnover drop in group of non-food products comprised 4.6%.

However, there are separate groups of products where there was no drop in trade turnover. Compared to May of previous year, in May this year retail trade in furniture has increased by 4.8%, retail trade in cosmetics and toiletry – by 4.5%.

Compared to corresponding period of previous year, retail trade of non-food products has also decreased - by 0.1%.
