In August 2008, the consumer price index for all households in the whole of France was stable (+0.4% in August 2007). The year-on-year price change was +3.2%.
Increases and falls compensated. On one hand, the end of summer sales induced an increase in prices of clothing and footwear and of other manufactures.
On the other hand, oil products declined and prices of transport and communication went down slightly.
The price index adjusted for seasonal variations fell by 0.2%. The core inflation indicator went up 0.2% (+2.0% year-on-year).
The HICP decreased 0.1% (+3.5% year-on-year).
