AATCC presents Weaver Award to Richard Aspland & Pramod Shanbhag

The world's top textile scientists were honored during AATCC's 2005 International Conference & Exhibition (IC&E) in Boston, on October 25-27, at the Hyatt Harborside.
A report on the 'Comparison of Color Difference Equations for Textiles: CMC(2:1) and CIEDE2000' has been selected as the best peer-reviewed paper published in AATCC Review in 2004.
The paper, written by J Richard Aspland and Pramod U. Shanbhag was published in June 2004. The authors will be honored with THE J. WILLIAM WEAVER AWARD.
J. Richard Aspland holds a BSc (Hons) in color chemistry and an MSc in dyeing from the University of Leeds, and a PhD in textile chemistry from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST).
He is currently a professor of textile chemistry at Clemson University.
He has been a member of AATCC since 1971 and has been active in the Piedmont Section.
He has presented at IC&E conferences and symposia, and has served as a peer reviewer for AATCC Review.
He has served on several AATCC committees, including Publications, Editorial Board, Color Measurement, Para-Technical Education, and Colour Index.
He also served as editor and contributed chapters for the AATCC Dyeing Primer as well as contributing chapters for Color Technology in the Textile Industry.
He also wrote the material for Textile Dyeing and Coloration. He has published over 100 papers.
Aspland is a member ofthe Society of Dyers & Colourists, the Fiber Society, the Textile Institute, and the Inter-Society Color Council.
