Omkar textile Mills plans to primarily invest Rs4-5 crore to establish an export oriented plant to produce sulphonic acid and its derivatives mostly for the blankets industry.
Owner, Ajay Khanna, informed that the unit will be set up in the special economic zone (SEZ) in Pubjab or in some region where the state government offers excise and taxation benefits.
The new unit is expected to produce around 10 tons of sulphonic acid per month.
Khanna will visit Italy to learn about the operations there.
He said that the new plant will have partly imported and partly indigeneous machinery.
Khanna believes Pakistan is capable of becoming the top export destination for sulphonic acid and its derivatives.
Besides Pakistan, the firm also plans to export sulphonic acid to South African countries.
After the export unit gets operational, the company expects to reach a turnover of Rs. 40-50 crore by 2007-08.
At present, the unit is catering to the demands of the blanket industry in Punjab and Haryana.
