Electronic textiles leader Textronics Inc has named Christopher R DeFusco as Vice President of marketing and business development.

He will focus on commercialization of the company's textile-based physiological sensing systems for medical devices as well as industrial, military and automotive applications for the company's conductive Textro-yarns and Textro-interconnects.

DeFusco has more than 20 years' experience in the high technology, medical device and intellectual property industries.

Most recently, he served as a Board member, vice president, and general manager in charge of US operations for BTG International Inc, a London-based technology commercialization company. He joined BTG's intellectual property licensing and enforcement division in 2001.

Previously, he held various sales and national accounts management positions with General Electric and Hewlett-Packard. During his 12 years at HP, DeFusco managed the Federal Government business for the Medical Division.

Prior to joining HP, he held sales and engineering positions at Cambridge Medical Instruments (now Marconi) and Hittman Medical Systems.

DeFusco is active in the Licensing Executive Society, Association of University Technology Managers, and Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers. He holds a B.S. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University, an M.A. in Philosophy from the West Chester University of Pennsylvania, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Temple University.

Wilmington, Delaware based electro-textiles developer Textronics has a number of technology streams under development that bridge the divide between the two sectors and will enable energy-active fabric systems to deliver entirely new kinds of functional benefit.
