The 13th MEXA is closed since a few days and looking back it offered an excellent possibility to the interested Russian audience of making itself a picture over the current fur clothing from national and international exhibitors.
In hall 7 of the central lain fairgrounds Expocentr Krasnaya Presnya almost 100 considerable companies from 14 countries were present. In relation to the previous year the exhibition area was extended over 20 percent and also more than 9.800 specialized visitors had been welcomed, which confirms the increasing meaning of the Russian fur market. First impressions from the exhibitors approved the complete satisfaction with the business made with the specialized visitors.
Impressive confirmation of the leading role of Russia in the international fur trade plus the exceptional position enjoyed by MEXA in the dynamic Russian fur trade was provided in the opening addresses made by Mr A. V. Sobolev, vice general manager of Expocentr, Moscow, Mr E. Simonov, Chairman of the Furriers Union, Mr. S. Stolbow from the Russian Fur Union, Mr. Shemchushin from Intermekh and Mr H. Salber, Envoy of the German Embassy in Moscow. For the acclaimed Russian designer Irina Krutikowa fur and leather are the favoured materials for fashion, a fact that brings MEXA to the superbly into the focus of attention as the shop window and the high-fashion catwalk for international fur fashion, as she explained in an opening event address.
For the first time also the event "Night of the Furs" took place at the evening of the first day. And it was a great success. More than 200 invited exhibitors and their guests saw a great fashion show from famous choreographer Anatoly Kulakow. National and international companies like Meerstein, Manakas, Manzari, Fokos Furs, M-Stile or Salon "Ekaterina", just to name some of the participants, showed their latest collections to the skilful audience.
