Hand-made fabrics producer Rubelli SpA launches the 2007 Dominique Kieffer collection. The collection is divided in three different main themes: - solid colours, blockprints and metals.
Solid Colours: structured, damasked, velvety, lustred, silky, scalloped as the COTON GLACE', a lustred cotton taffeta as crisp as a sheet of silk paper, dazzling and voluminous; or SOIE SAUVAGE, a very full, hand-woven silk coming from a non-domesticated cocoon, or DENTELLE DE COTON, a wonderful cotton lace, with a subtle and understated pattern and scalloped edges.
The metals : two types of linen for different metallic effects in gold, silver and bronze as the LIN LAME' and the LIN METALLIQUE.
The “BLOCK PRINTS”, geometric patterns in gold and black, hand printed on very high quality white linen.
This ancient block printing technique - introduced into the Indies in the fifteenth century in Gujarat – was used to create five geometrical patterns, inspired by traditional Japanese or Indian designs, as the RALLI, named after a stitched blanket from northern India or Pakistan, or as the KALAMKARI, that is a checked garment hand painted and then block printed.
RUBELLI, founded in 1858 by Lorenzo Rubelli, is in many respects unique, given its capacity to produce hand-made fabrics using traditional techniques as well as highly sophisticated textiles of all kinds, using cutting edge technology in both their conception and production.
Dominique Kieffer is a Parisian designer. Rubelli is an owner her collection.
