Rohm and Haas operations in Texas resume production

Rohm and Haas Company said that its manufacturing plants in Texas have successfully restarted operations and are continuing to supply customers with products from these plants.
While plant operations in Deer Park and Bayport, Texas, were slightly impacted by the direct effects of Hurricane Ike, the availability of raw material, energy and transportation logistics immediately following the hurricane presented considerable challenges.
One by one, systems have been restored and materials became available that allowed the plants to resume operations. The plants are now ramping up to plan and beginning the process to clear back orders and to accept new ones. With supply now flowing, all of the company's specialty materials operations across the United States are making products for customers.
Safety has consistently been the top priority for these facilities, and for operations in Louisiana that also were affected by Hurricane Ike. Rohm and Haas reports that there have been no injuries at the company sites as a result of the storm or its aftermath, and all employees have been accounted for, though many are dealing with damage to their homes. To date, the company has donated $150,000 to local hurricane relief agencies.
The three facilities in the Houston area include the Deer Park plant, which makes acrylate and methacrylate monomers, the Lone Star plant, which makes acrylic emulsions, and the Bayport Plant, which makes specialty monomers and biocides. These plants began an orderly shutdown process in anticipation of the hurricane during the week of September 8th.
All of the company's production facilities in both Texas and Louisiana are now back in operation.
