ASN-690 & MS-3580 to support serging & lapping process

JUKI has launched two newly-developed models on the 1st of April, 2009. One is the "ASN-690" series for supporting serging processes for the serging of various materials which differ in shape with its increased stitching speed. The other is the "MS-3580 series" which is best-suited for the lapping of heavy-weight materials such as jeans, denim jackets and work uniforms.
The ASN-690 is provided with the market-proven high-speed overlock machine MO-6904S. It achieves increased productivity and consistent seam quality.
The MS-3580 has not only the power for feeding 16-plied 14-oz denim, but also the flexibility for sewing the recently increasing trend of soft materials such as soft jeans.
Features of the ASN-690
- Increased productivity The machine achieves a maximum stitching speed of 8,000 sti/min to perform high-speed sewing, thereby increasing productivity.
- Seam quality The machine is provided as standard with JUKI's unique micro-lifter. With its presser foot height, which is adjustable to the material thickness, the machine is capable of performing high-quality serging to produce products with a beautiful texture and with no damage by the feed dog and no puckering.
- Operability and workability The cloth guide for guiding the material can easily be adjusted in height with no tool according to the material to be used. Troublesome work conventionally associated with the adjustment of the guide is no longer required.
A looper cleaning mechanism is equipped as standard in the upper looper cover where lint and cloth chips are likely to gather. It improves maintainability and also decreases the possibility of the incorporation of cloth chips into the sewing products.
The machine comes in two different types according to the table. One is the type with a longer table and the other is the type with a short table. The type of machine should be selected according to the sewing product or available space in the plant.

- Seam quality
The thread feeding device which works in conjunction with the presser foot operates while an extra heavy-weight part of jeans or other material is being sewn to adjust the quantity of needle thread to be fed to help produce an appropriately tensed seam.
Use/disuse of the "differential feed mechanism" can be selected on the machine head. When sewing elastic materials such as soft jeans, higher quality sewing is promised by operating the differential feed adjusting lever.
- Operability and workability
Conventionally, the looper cannot be threaded with ease. For the MS-3580, however, the looper is tilted by activating the looper breakdown mechanism to enable easy threading
The puller mechanism (one-way clutch), which has been exposed on the conventional model, is now provided as standard with a safety cover.
