Kuwait Paraxylene Production Company (KPPC) held on Sunday its annual general assembly to discuss developments relevant to the company's business and projects .
Speaking after the general assembly, KPPC's Chairman Mahmoud Al-Qattan said “The company will finalize all construction activities and the mechanical completion during May 2009, then the plants will be handed over for commissioning and start-up in preparation for commercial operations.”
Al-Qattan expected “The company's plants will commence production during Q3 of 2009.”
Producing paraxylene and benzene, KPPC's state-of-the-art plants are located in Kuwait's Shuaiba Industrial Area. The capacities are 822,000 metric tons annually (MTA) of paraxylene and 370,000 MTA of benzene.
Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) was in charge of handling the USD 2 billion Aromatics Project, while EQUATE Petrochemical company will be the single operator of KPPC's plants.
