Indian minister orders fresh consultations on e-com policy

Indian commerce and industry minister Suresh Prabhu has asked for another round of stakeholder consultations on the draft e-commerce policy as a few quarters have raised concerns over some proposals. The minister will personally review the final draft, the ministry said in a recent tweet. The initial draft suggested steps to promote the growth of the sector.

Certain online firms have, however, welcomed the draft policy, saying it will form a single regulator for the sector, prevent monopolistic tendencies and infuse competitiveness and fair play. (DS)
