The Indonesian Government imposed anti-dumping duty on PSF imports from India, China and Taiwan for five years beginning November 23, 2010. Currently, Indian PSF exporters are subject to import duties ranging between 5.82 and 16.7 per cent, while exporters from China are subjected to duty of 11.94 per cent, and Taiwanese exporters 28.47 per cent.

The latest investigation has been ordered based on an application filed by the Indonesian Synthetic Fiber Producers Association (Apsyfi), a statement from the Ministry of Trade said.

“Preliminary evidence points to dumping of PSF by into the Indonesian market by India, China and Taiwan, which together account for 49 per cent of total PSF imports. This causes loss to the domestic industry producing similar goods if anti-dumping duty is not levied on these products,” said KADI chairman Ernawati.

According to the procedure for the imposition of anti-dumping measures, KADI has conveyed information related to the commencement of the investigation to the parties concerned, among others, the domestic industry; importers; exporters/ producers from India, China, and Taiwan; Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in India, China, and Taiwan; and representatives of the Government of India, China, and Taiwan in Indonesia, the statement said.

Other interested parties who want to be involved in investigation and want to furnish additional information, comments, and/or request a hearing relating to the investigation of dumping goods and losses, must submit in writing to KADI by December 23, 2014, the statement added. (RKS)
