RFID Journal announced that it will feature live retail apparel demonstrations of radio frequency identification by the University of Arkansas' RFID Research Center in the exhibit hall at RFID Journal LIVE! 2013, the world's premier conference and exhibition focused on RFID and its many business applications.

LIVE! 2013 will be held from Apr. 30 to May 2, 2013, at the Orange County Convention Center, located in Orlando, Fla. The University of Arkansas' RFID Research Center conducted many of the key studies on the impact RFID can have on retail and supplier operations. During the course of the conference and exhibition, researchers will demonstrate the following use cases for passive ultrahigh-frequency RFID technology based on Electronic Product Code standards and show how RFID can improve existing business processes and reduce costs:

Serializing, Encoding and Applying RFID Tags

This demo will show how serialized data can be written to RFID transponders on items. Researchers will explain some of the options for managing serialized data, encoding tags in bulk and applying the tags.

Pick and Pack

This demo will show how RFID can be used to alert workers when the wrong number of items is picked, the right number but wrong items are picked and extra items are picked.

Shipment Auditing and Electronic Proof of Delivery

This demo will show how RFID can be used to audit shipments, and how suppliers can investigate only those items with a problem. It will also demonstrate how RFID enables electronic proof of delivery.

Cycle Counting

In this demo, attendees will see how cycle counts can be done quickly and effectively with RFID, and how RFID can improve inventory accuracy by revealing items that have been stolen or misplaced and identify frozen inventory.

Locating Items

This demo will show how store associates can use RFID to quickly find a specific item—the right color, size and fit—for a customer.

Loss Prevention

In this interactive demo, attendees will be able to try to get the goods out of the store without RFID technology setting off the alarms.

"There will be a special focus on retail and apparel at this year's event, including an in-depth workshop, case studies by early adopters and new research by the RFID Research Center," says Mark Roberti, founder and editor of RFID Journal. "These demonstrations will enable retailers and suppliers to see the technology in action so they can see the benefits for themselves."

LIVE! 2013 will also feature four industry-specific and four how-to conference tracks, as well as nine in-depth preconference seminars and workshops, four new post conference workshops, fast-track training and presentations of the RFID Journal Awards. In addition, the conference will offer exhibits anddemonstrations conducted by the industry's leading technology firms.
