Eton Systems, the inventor and world’s leading provider of automated production systems for apparel and other sewn products, will unveil its new ETONnote Shop Floor Control (SFC) system in Booth #3027 at the Texprocess Americas trade show on May 13-15, 2014 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The innovative new productivity and information management solution utilizes wireless networking and standard Android-based devices to collect real-time production and process information that can be used to increase individual and team productivity, enhance order tracking and streamline the incentive payroll process.

According to Per Bringle, President of Eton Support US, “While the visibility, control and other benefits of these systems have been proven over many years, ETONnote is making real-time shop floor affordable for all manufacturers by eliminating the high costs and lengthy implementation times associated with wired networks and proprietary workplace terminals. We are also changing the game with a dynamic pay-per-use plan that charges minimal each for the precise number of workers that use the system on a day by day basis.”

Eton developed the new SFC solution in close cooperation with Integrated Textile Solutions (ITS), a Salem, Virginia-based contract manufacturer of military, industrial, and consumer soft goods, which replaced a legacy shop floor system with ETONnote early this year.

“We are pleased with the results we have achieved with ETONnote,” reported ITS President David Thornhill. “We saw it as an innovative approach to real-time shop floor control and a great way to improve and simplify data collection and tracking throughout our sewing operations. After using it for a couple of months, the system is providing production workers with accurate, real-time feedback on their performance throughout the day while enabling management teams to track order status and quality issues better than before.”

Additional ETONnote implementations are now completed or underway at more customer sites. Supervisors gain access to real-time bundle tracking, production counts, operator or team performance, efficiency, on-standard and off-standard time calculations and more. Individual operators enjoy real-time feedback on current style, operations, standard minute value, and other pacing and motivational tools.

The wireless infrastructure reduces overall setup and training time to just one week by eliminating the time consuming and costly practice of manually running network cabling throughout the factory. Readily accessible Android-powered mobile phones or tablets purchased directly from Eton or off-the-shelf by the manufacturer significantly reduce startup costs as compared to proprietary workplace terminals.

A standard PC host is used to store and report on all production, process and quality data collected from the operation. Information maintained on the PC can also be integrated with third-party reporting, payroll, or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
