Checkpoint Systems revamps global leadership team
May '14
Checkpoint Systems, Inc. announced a reorganization of its global leadership team with a heightened focus on growth.
Farrokh Abadi, President and Chief Operating Officer, Merchandise Availability Solutions, has been given an expanded role to lead Strategy and Corporate Business Development. Mr. Abadi has ten years of experience at Checkpoint in a variety of roles that make him uniquely qualified for this challenge. In this capacity, he will lead efforts to identify, select and execute new partnerships, joint ventures and acquisitions to drive inorganic growth.
Checkpoint also announced the appointment of Uwe Sydon as Senior Vice President Innovation. This is a new role for Checkpoint, moving innovation to the senior leadership team reporting to President and Chief Executive Officer, George Babich. Mr. Sydon will join Checkpoint on May 27, 2014. He most recently served as Vice President of Product Management for BlackBerry (RIM) in Canada.
Prior to his work with BlackBerry he held a variety of innovation and product management leadership positions in Siemens AG and Nokia Siemens Networks. Mr. Sydon will lead internal product development and innovation to drive organic growth for Checkpoint.
In addition, Checkpoint announced the appointment of Bryan Rowland to Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary. Mr. Rowland has ten years of experience with Checkpoint, most recently serving as Associate General Counsel.
“I am very excited about the future for Checkpoint,” said Mr. Babich. “Over the past two years we have right sized our portfolio and completed significant cost reductions and process improvements that enable us now to focus on growth. With the success of our LEAN program, we have the balance sheet to invest in R&D and to supplement our internal innovation with strategic acquisitions of technologies and products. I believe that Farrokh and Uwe will bring unique experiences to this priority as they partner to deliver growth. Bryan will also be an outstanding addition to the leadership team providing valuable counsel as we move forward with our growth initiatives.
The combination of this strong management team driving excellence in both operational execution and our growth initiatives will position us well to serve our customers and our shareholders.”
