Pune gets first ever CIO appointed by PMC & SEAP

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Software Exporter's Association of Pune (SEAP) announced the appointment of Pune's first ever Chief Information Officer (CIO), Dr. Anupam Saraph.

Dr. Saraph's appointment has been made with the objective of adding weight to the e-governance project implementation underway in Pune & to enhance Pune's plans to transform into one of the most technologically advanced cities of the future. Mr. Praveen Singh Pardeshi, Municipal Commissioner, Pune attended the signing of the MoU at Persistent Systems office in Pune alongwith SEAP President, Mr. Nitin Deshpande.

Dr. Anupam Saraph has served as a Vice-Chairman of a mid-sized Public Sector undertaking in India, as Chairman of an independent Think Tank, and as Chairman of several government and business commissions and committees.

He is a life-member of several professional bodies and associations including the Balaton Group, the Computer Society of India, and the Pune Management Association. Dr. Saraph holds a Ph.D. in Informatics from Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, The Netherlands.

SEAP was formed in 1998 by a group of export-oriented software companies to foster better interaction among Software Export units in Pune. SEAP aims to promote and safeguard their members' interests by uniting companies having a common goal and providing a forum for them to share resources and collectively address administrative issues.

The eminent members of the association include Dr. Anand Deshpande, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director, Persistent Systems Ltd, Mr. Deepak Shikarpur, President of All India Computer Association and other members from the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and Wipro Technologies etc.
