Sonae Distribuição, operator of more than 630 hypermarkets, supermarkets and non-food stores throughout Portugal, announced that it has selected the KSS Retail PriceStrat solution for price and promotion management. Sonae Distribuição made the decision to go with KSS Retail's solution after an extensive evaluation of all offerings in the market. Sonae Distribuição is Portugal's largest retail chain and operates under various brand names, including Continente, Modelo, Modelo Bonjour and Worten.

“Price is a variable that has always been crucial for our value offering. Since mid-1990, Sonae Distribuição has developed and optimized its pricing management tools based on information available in our data warehouse,” said João Günther Amaral, director of commercial and store operations development for Sonae Distribuição.

“After evaluating the pricing solutions offered by the main players in this market, we understood that today there are new opportunities to further develop our pricing models. We chose KSS Retail because of its retail industry knowledge, the flexibility of their approach to the customer and because we believe they are the best partner for us to work with.”

“KSS Retail is bringing phenomenal results to all of our retail customers,” said Lance Jacobs, chief executive officer at KSS Retail. “We are extremely pleased and excited that after an intense and extensive evaluation process, Sonae Distribuição saw the value of our real-time price modeling and optimization solution. We look forward to building a long-term partnership with the very talented team at Sonae Distribuição.”

KSS Retail provides the only real-time, self–learning price optimization solution for the grocery, drug, convenience and general retail market segments.
