Demandware, developer of the only enterprise-class, on-demand ecommerce platform, announced that lucy activewear, a lifestyle apparel company for women who seek fit, style and performance, has selected the Demandware eCommerce Platform to enhance its online shopping experience for consumers and to expand its rapidly growing cross-channel business.

The lucy brand's Web site, launched in 1999, has been a key channel for delivering solutions to consumers searching for lifestyle apparel that fits, flatters and inspires. Since re-launching in 2004, the lucy brand's online business has more than doubled. To support its continued online growth, lucy activewear is partnering with Demandware, which will deliver its platform with innovative merchandising capabilities and manage the hardware and maintenance for the site. The lucy brand expects to launch its enhanced site near the end of 2008.

“Our ecommerce site is a key sales channel for the lucy brand, as approximately 50 percent of our in-store customers also visit us online. In fact, many of our customers come into the store with printouts of outfits that are showcased on the site,” said Rebecca Taubman, director of ecommerce for lucy. “As traffic to our Web site continues to increase, our enhanced Web site and platform will enable us to offer customers a sophisticated, stress-free shopping experience, as well as targeted cross-channel promotions and guaranteed availability.”

Demandware will provide lucy a reliable Web platform to manage continued ecommerce growth and peak seasonal and marketing-related customer volume, while maintaining the high level of customer service that the lucy brand strives to provide consumers.

“The lucy brand is an incredible success story and we are proud to have the opportunity to offer them our services,” said Demandware's Chairman and Founder Stephan Schambach. “Demandware is ideally suited for high-growth brands like lucy because we have built our company around the needs of fast-growing merchants who require the freedom and flexibility to focus on the business of driving sales and building relationships.”

Demandware drives the success of high-growth brands with the only enterprise-class On-Demand eCommerce Platform that empowers merchandising and marketing talent with total control over the shopping experience and continuous competitive differentiation. Leading brands such as Bare Escentuals, House of Fraser, Playmobil, Sally Beauty Supply and Timberland leverage Demandware's enterprise class eCommerce functionality and automatic upgrades to help achieve higher conversion rates, increase average order size, and improve customer retention.
