EMS to re-platform its web store on GSI technology
Apr '09
GSI Commerce Inc announced that Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) will re-platform its Web store on GSI's e-commerce technology solution as part of a multiyear e-commerce technology and order management services agreement. The next-generation EMS online store is scheduled to launch on GSI's technology platform this fall.

“We chose GSI because of its market-leading technology platform and demonstrated capability in helping leading retailers meet their online business goals,” said Jeffrey Neville, chief information officer and vice president of e-commerce for EMS. “Leveraging GSI's technology platform and e-commerce expertise will enable us to focus on our core strengths of high-quality products and industry expertise, while still maintaining full control of site merchandising, content management and promotions. Working with GSI will ensure our online presence reinforces the strengths of the EMS brand.”

EMS is one of the nation's leading outdoor specialty retailers, with 64 retail stores and a loyal and growing customer base of outdoor sports enthusiasts. EMS offers a wide variety of technical gear, performance apparel and other specialized products from leading brands serving the outdoor sports industry, including mountaineering, backpacking, climbing, kayaking, cycling, camping and skiing equipment.

“With EMS's strong brand, unique mix of products and avid customer base, it's critical that a visit to their Web store elicits the same customer response as an in-store visit, ensuring that customers are both engaged while shopping and satisfied when they check out. We look forward to working closely with EMS to evolve EMS.com into an online destination that caters to the 'enthusiast' mindset of their customers,” said Damon Mintzer, executive vice president of sales for GSI.
