Two distinct brands of Thompson on one merchandising tool
May '09
Fry Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of MICROS Systems, Inc. and a leading e-commerce solutions provider, launched two new Web sites for The Thompson Group, a direct-to-consumer multi-channel merchant selling products ranging from premium cigars to designer linens and women's apparel.

Fry delivered a multi-site e-commerce solution for The Thompson Group's two brand sites, www.casuallivingusa.com and www.thompsoncigar.com, utilizing the Fry Open Commerce Platform (OCP), an e-commerce solution that provides retailers with a feature-rich, scalable online store. As with all sites on the Fry OCP platform, The Thompson Group sites feature robust content management and flexible promotional tools, targeted merchandising capability and refined search.

"A multi-site solution that allows us to easily manage, market and merchandise is key," said Steve Cobden, chief marketing officer for The Thompson Group. "Fry OCP provides us with the tools we need to effectively promote our products online and drive increased revenue."

The new platform has already made an impact. Both sites have seen increased traffic, improved average order, and reduced cart abandonment, providing value that has exceeded forecast. The Thompson Group attributes these improvements directly to the sites' ease-of-use and OCP's refined search and merchandising capabilities. In addition to providing the e-commerce platform, Fry also provided creative design for the Casual Living site.

"We are thrilled with the outcome of the launch of the Casual Living and Thompson Cigar sites," said David Fry, president of Fry. "This shows two distinct brands with different promotional needs can be successfully managed with one tool."

Thompson and Company is a multi-channel merchant that has sold products direct to the consumer for more than 90 years. Our three primary business lines offer something for everyone: from designer linens to fashion apparel to premium cigars.
