Demandware to maintain Reitmans multi-site ecommerce operations

Demandware Inc the global leader in on-demand ecommerce, announced that Reitmans, Canada's largest ladies apparel retailer, has selected Demandware as the ecommerce foundation for its multi-brand online business. Reitmans will use the Demandware eCommerce Platform to build, launch and manage multiple sites across several branded divisions and help accelerate the growth of its online channel.

With more than 950 stores throughout Canada, Reitmans is one of the country's most established and successful retail organizations. The company operates under seven divisions: Reitmans, Smart-Set, RW & CO., Penningtons 14+, Thyme Maternity, Addition-Elle 14+ and Cassis. The first ecommerce site to go live on Demandware will be that of the Reitmans division, with others to follow.

"After a thorough evaluation of ecommerce platforms, we selected Demandware because it combines a standards-based development environment that empowers our team to build and launch sites on our own, superb merchandising functionality and the operational benefits of on-demand delivery," said Diane Randolph, vice president and CIO, Reitmans. "We want to focus on ecommerce innovation and revenue growth and see no benefit to owning the infrastructure."

Demandware provides Reitmans with the following key capabilities to support its multi-brand, multi-site ecommerce operations:

• A central platform for building and maintaining multiple ecommerce sites
• Full in-house control over merchandising promotions, catalog, pricing and all other aspects of the online shopping experience to easily customize sites per region or product line
• Support for multiple languages, currencies and payment types
• Seamless, automatic upgrades to continually leverage new merchandising functionality for site innovation
• On-demand model that eliminates the need to source and maintain costly IT infrastructure
