Introduction


This cluster is known for its stoles, scarves & Eri Silk dress materials and Home Furnishings. It is located in South Kamrup District of Assam, an area where handlooms have been quite a dominant sector as a means of living. This area has a concentration of Eri hand loom weaving units. The city of Guwahati is just 30kms away from this cluster and there are abundant villages in and about the area where Eri weaving is the main function.


The factors controlling the eri market takes into concern the following points:

  • It is a conventional and cultural product which is exceptionally resilient and anticipated to survive the tight market circumstances.
